A
radiant tube heater is a gas fired heater that is chained from the ceiling in
the middle of a chicken house. Heater stays at the ceiling, is not winched or
lower. AgRadiant heaters consist of three main components: the burner box, all
“aluminized” radiant tube, and the polished reflector.
A radiant tube heater is different from radiant or pancake brooders, instead of having an open flame in the chicken house a radiant tube heater’s burner is located inside of the burner box. The tube draws in fresh air from outside the house, then the burner box heats the tube, radiating heat towards the litter pack. Tube temperature near the burner box can get as high as 950°F and the temperature of the tube about 40 feet away might be around 275°F to 350°F.
The tubes radiate that heat down to the birds and the litter pack. Heating from the floor up rather than heating from the ceiling down. AgRadiant’s highly efficient reflector above the aluminized tubes direct the heat rays coming from the top of the tube back toward the house floor. AgRadiant’s reflector covers a wider area of the floor than a pancake or radiant brooder just like fluorescent light fixture hung from the ceiling would light more floor area than a light bulb hanging above the floor.
